THE "NEW" OLD LOUISVILLE INN

After 18 years as owner of The Old Louisville Inn, Garrett McCarthy is unveiling some major changes to reinvigorate the restaurant, grow the business, and stay competitive in Downtown Louisville’s restaurant scene.

McCarthy’s commitment to success meant bringing in a new head chef, John Ruane. After finding Ruane on Craigslist, McCarthy was impressed by his energy and gave him free reign to re-invent the menu.

They have chopped the menu in half, concentrating on quality over quantity. The new menu features roughly 36 items, all of which are made from scratch using the freshest ingredients available. McCarthy believes that his customers, both old and new, will be delighted by the new menu items. He’s also thrilled to have a portion of the menu dedicated to traditional Irish food including Bangers and Mash and Sheppard’s Pie (one of Chef Ruane’s personal favorites).

If Wednesday’s unveiling of the new menu is a sign of things to come, Old Louisville Inn seems to be on the right track. McCarthy is aware of the difficulties of being a restaurant owner in Downtown Louisville, especially a restaurant located off of Louisville’s busy Main Street. He knows that to attract enough customers to stay afloat, mediocrity is not an option. McCarthy says the best thing about being a local Louisville business is the regular customers that make OLI their second home. He’s positive the menu changes will grow this group of regulars.

If you haven’t been to Old Louisville Inn recently, now is the time! Check them out, and become a “regular” again.
